NB!

· much – with uncountable nouns in questions and negative sentences.

eg: We haven’t got much time.

· many – with plural countable nouns in questions and negative sentences.

eg: Are there many restaurants in town?

Notes

· To ask obout quantity, we use

How much + uncountable noun:

eg: How much milk did you buy?

How many + plural countable noun:

eg: How many students are there in the group?

· a few + plural noun.

eg: There are a few letters on the desk for you, Mrs. Andrews.

· a little + uncountable noun.

eg: I like a little milk in my tea, please.

a lot of can be used with countable and uncountable nouns

eg: I have a lot of time.

There is a lot of snow outside.
