1. Who tells the story? How old is the narrator? What are you guesses based upon?

2. Do you think the chosen narrative method is important, or can it be easily replaced by a third person narration?

3. Does the girl always come to the correct conclusions or does she misinterprets facts? Do we deal with a reliable or unreliable narrator in this story?

4. What can you say about the setting? There are some words in the text written in bold type. Use them as a clue.

5. What is more relevant for this story – the events or the psychological state of the main character? Can one make a conclusion that sometimes a plot includes thoughts and feelings besides actions?

6. What is there unusual about the language of the story? Mind the syntax, punctuation, logical incongruities. Does the narrator observe all grammar rules? How does the author manage to imitate a child’s speech?

7. Does the tone change throughout the story? Do repetitions play an important part in revealing the girl’s emotional state in the climax? How does the author show that the girl has calmed down?

8. What does the author do to form a certain attitude towards each of the parents? How do the following words characterise the mother: “…Mommy doesn't like things. She doesn't like the President and she doesn't like my Daddy…”.

9. What problems does this story touch upon?

10. Why do you think the characters have no names?

11. What is the message of the story?
