Second British victim of Iran plane crash is engineer killed alongside new wife
BP reservoir engineer Sam Zokaei was travelling back to London via Kyiv and is understood to have been on holiday visiting family in his native Iran.
Mr Zokaei, who lived in south-west London, was a senior reservoir engineer working for BP Exploration Operating Company and had worked for the firm for 14 years in a number of roles.
He was based in London but had previously worked in the oil industry in Angola, Egypt, Azerbaijan and on the Iran-Iraq border.
Among the victims of yesterday's tragic flight were 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, three Germans and three Britons, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said.

Newlyweds Saeed Tahmasebi Khademasadi, one of three British citizens who died when the Boeing 737 went down shortly after taking off from Tehran, and Niloofar Ebrahim got married in St John's Wood in north London last month.
They had travelled to Iran for a ceremony in their native country and were heading back to the UK, via Ukraine, to start their married life together, according to family.
Mr Tahmasebi, 35, was an engineer with construction firm Laing O'Rourke, a researcher PhD candidate at Imperial College London and a graduate of the universities of Surrey, Greenwich and Tehran, according to his Facebook profile.
The two other Britons who were killed were Brighton businessman Mohammed Reza Kadkhoda-Zadeh, 40, and BP senior engineer Sam Zokaei, from south-west London.

to see family over the Christmas period
and was due to return to the UK
via Ukraine on Wednesday.
Friends and neighbours have paid tribute
to the “quiet, polite and lovely” business owner
as the cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
At his parents' three-bedroom home
in Haywards Heath,
Mr Kadkhoda-Zadeh's father, Mahmoud, 67, fought back tears as he said: “I have no words sorry. I cannot speak.”

His family later said in a statement: “A loving father, son, brother, friend, who will eternally be missed. His absence has shattered many lives. A well humoured passionate soul has lost his life far too soon. Rest in peace Reza.”

The third British man killed in a fiery plane crash in Iran was an engineer who worked for BP.
Sam Zokaei was travelling back to London via Kyiv the Ukrainian International Airlines jet went down near Tehran, killing all 176 people on board.
It is believed he was on holiday and visiting relatives in his native Iran.
Mr Zokaei, who lived in south-west London, was a senior reservoir engineer working for BP Exploration Operating Company and had worked for the firm for 14 years in a number of roles.
He was based in London but had previously worked in the oil industry in Angola, Egypt, Azerbaijan and on the Iran-Iraq border.
A BP spokesperson told Mirror Online: “With the deepest regret, we can confirm that one of our colleagues at BP, Sam Zokaei, was a passenger on the Ukrainian International Airlines plane that crashed in Iran this morning, reportedly with no survivors.
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss of our friend and colleague and all of our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
A heartbroken family member confirmed the devastating news on Facebook.
He wrote: "Yes, I lost my second brother too. Sam Zokaei lost his life on this morning’s plane crash as he was coming back to London."
The other two Britons who died were Brighton businessman Mohammed Reza Kadkhoda-Zadeh, 40, and construction firm engineer Saeed Tahmasebi Khademasadi, 35, whose new wife, Niloofar Ebrahim, was also killed.

Mr Zokaei graduated from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh with a masters in petroleum engineering in 2004.
He described himself on LinkedIn as “a senior reservoir engineer with extensive technical and leadership experiences in reservoir performance, reservoir management and reservoir simulation”.

A neighbour in North Sheen, near Richmond, told the Telegraph: “This is such awful news. He was a very nice man, always very friendly and polite.
“He often worked away from home for several weeks on end, but whenever I saw him he would wave and say hello.”
The Foreign Office said it is "urgently seeking confirmation" of the British death toll.
A spokesman added: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in the plane crash in Iran overnight.

Лётчиков учат водить самолёты - гражданских лётчиков и гражданские самолёты и в мирное время. А тут что пошло? Военное время?
Для военного времени нужны военные лётчики-более крепкая нервная система и более быстрый оценочный прошив информации -более высокие скорости реагирования и хладнокровие.
Т.е. раз в Иране неспокойно стрельба: водить самолёты в такие зоны могу в паре с военными лётчиками.
"Если б знать, где упасть, так соломку б подстелить".
Лётчиков Украины водить самолёт учили в мирное время?
А там ситуация какая? Стреляют? ракеты летят? Война?
Бедные люди. Стреляют и стреляют. Неспокойно. Война.
Когда , наконец, мирная и счастливая жизнь наступит?
Посмотрела фотки погибших. Создалось ощущение,

Bellingcat удалось локализовать видеозапись. Она была сделана в иранском районе Паранд, где и пропал с радаров пассажирский лайнер. Также опубликованы фото фрагментов ракеты.
четверг в интернете распространилось видео, опубликованное в телеграм-канале, где проводится сбор материалов, связанных с катастрофой рейса 752 "Международных авиалиний Украины". На видео запечатлен взрыв в воздухе. Газета The New York Times связалась с автором видео, получила его в высоком разрешении и подтвердила его подлинность.
По предположению американской газеты, видео показывает, что иранская ракета попала в самолет над Парандом, недалеко от аэропорта Тегерана. Именно в том районе пропала связь с украинским лайнером, который разрушился в воздухе.
У NYT есть и другие видео инцидента. Анализ всего видеоматериала показал, что после попадания ракеты в самолет произошел небольшой взрыв, однако воздушное судно продолжало полет в течение еще нескольких минут. Затем горящий авиалайнер повернул к аэропорту, на обратном пути взорвался и упал.
