in 2nd Human Anatomy Olympiad
for students and schoolchildren
Date for the Olympiad – 21st of April, 2018
Olympiad venue: Cheboksary, Pirogova str., 7, Normal and Topographic Anatomy with Operative Surgery Department (“P”-building, lecture hall 212)
Official languages of Olympiad: Russian and English
Objective
Human Anatomy Olympiad is conducted for the purpose of increasing of students and schoolchildren interest in academic activity and their chosen profession, selection of gifted and talented youth, improvement of quality of medical profile specialists training.
Participation in Olympiad will allow you to estimate your level of subject knowledge and to reveal your weak and strong sides!
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
Eligibility criteria
1. To participate in the Olympiad one should be a student of 1st-2nd year of natural science specialities (medicine, biology etc) and a schoolchild of 9th-11th grade.
2. To participate in the Olympiad you should fill the application form and send it via e-mail anatomy2017olimp@mail.ru. After getting your application form you will be send registration confirmation.
Last date of Application: 17.04.2018
3. Application form includes:
First line –full name and surname
Second line – for students: name of the university, faculty, year, group
For schoolchildren: school number, grade
COMPOSITION OF THE EXPERT COMMITTEE
Performance of Olympiad assignments will be evaluated by teachers of Chuvash State University: professors, doctors and candidates of medical sciences.
ASSIGNMENTS OF THE OLYMPIAD
Schoolchildren and students will be evaluated separately. Olympiad will be conducted in 3 stages. 1st and 2nd stages are qualifying ones; the 3rd stage is a final. According to the results of the 1st stage 25% of all the participants will be qualified for the 2nd stage. Only 5 best participants of each qualification group (schoolchildren and students) will get into the Final.
I stage – Theoretical examination
Participants will be suggested to answer 40 questions in Human Anatomy for 60 minutes. Answers are supposed to be in writing.

1st part includes 30 multiple choice questions with only 1 correct option. 2nd part is presented by 10 short answer assignments. Answers for the assignments of the 2nd part may be sequence of numbers, number or word (word combination). One point is scored for each correct answer to MCQ. Short answer assignments are graded by 2 points.
While assignments’ performing it is not allowed to communicate with other participants, use laptops, tablet computers, mobile devices and other help material. Olympiad organizers have a right to disqualify a participant in case of breach of discipline.
Maximal score quantity for the first stage of the Olympiad is 50 points. According to the results of the 1st stage, ranking of participants will be generated. 25% of students and schoolchildren which demonstrated the best results will be qualified for the 2nd stage.
II stage – Practical examination
Participants are supposed to apply knowledge in Human Anatomy in practice. Answers should be given in oral form. Student knowledge will be checked by using wet and dry natural preparations, artificial preparations and charts. Students are required: 1) to point anatomic structures in preparations, 2) to know their names (including eponyms), 3) to solve clinical situational tasks, including applying of medical visualization methods. Schoolchildren knowledge will be evaluated by using artificial preparations, charts and clinical situational tasks.
Maximal score quantity for the second stage of the Olympiad is 50 points. After completing the second stage points for the 1st and 2nd stages are summed and ranking is generated. 5 participants of each qualification group (students and schoolchildren) will get to the Final.
III stage - Final
Before the Final all of the previous points of finalists are reset, i.e. the winner of the Olympiad will be decided by the results of the 3rd stage.
Conditions of the Final will be the following. Host asks the question and at the same time text of the question is printed on the projector screen. Participants will have 40 seconds to write down the answer, after that the next question will appear at the screen. Answers for the assignments of the Final may be sequence of numbers, number or word (word combination). After answering the last question participants pass answer sheets to organizers and leave the auditory.

One point is scored for each correct answer. In case of equal points a participant with higher cumulative rank (sum of ranks of answered questions) will win. Questions rank will be calculated using formula: R=N+1, where N is a number of finalists who didn’t answer this question.
Summing up the Olympiad results is according to the results of Final.
Achievements
All the participants will receive Certificates of Participation.
Winners will be awarded by Certificates of Merit.
