ЗАДАНИЯ
1.1. Найдите транскрипцию приведённых ниже слов в англо-русском словаре. Произнесите слова в соответствии с транскрипцией (см. Приложение1). Прослушайте слова (см. Введение.п.2). (Find a transcription of the following words in the English-Russian dictionary. Say the words according to the transcription (see Application1). Listen to the words (see Introduction. item2.)

DEVELOPMENT OF FIBER-OPTIC COMMUNICATION
Fiber-optic communication is a kind of wire telecommunication, it uses electromagnetic radiation of optical (near infra-red) range as a carrier of the information signal, and it uses fiber-optic cables as a directing system.
The capacity of fiber-optic lines is much more than the capacity of all other communication systems due to the high carrier frequency and the wide possibilities of multiplexing, also it can be measured in terabits per second.

Fiber-optical communication finds more and more wide application in all areas — from computers and onboard space, airborne, shipboard systems to information transfer systems over long distances. For example, now the fiber-optical communication line Western Europe — Japan which most part passes on the territory of Russia is successfully used. Besides, the total length of the underwater fiber-optic communication lines between the continents is increasing now.
Fiber to the home, FTTH (Fiber to the premises, FTTP) is the term used by telecommunication providers which provide a complex of telecommunication services. This complex of services includes a high-speed Internet access, services of telecommunication, service of television reception. The cost of using fiber-optic technology is reduced, and that makes this service is competitive compared to traditional services.
