· Review answers, eliciting some more examples
Writing Practice (20 minutes)
· Get each group to assign one person to each paragraph of the Cinderella story
· Explain that each student needs to form the following sentences from their paragraph using the past tense
o Three positive sentences that are true or false
o Three negative sentences that are true or false
o Three Yes / No Questions
o Three Wh- Questions
· Go through the examples with the students and then go around and check their sentences as they write
Speaking Practice – Quiz Competition (25 minutes)
· Ask the students to write their names and date on the writing part of the worksheet, tear that half off and give it to you.
· Split the class into two groups and get them to form two lines facing you
· Explain that you will ask each pair a question and that they need to repeat the question perfectly and give you the correct answer. The first person to do that correctly wins a point for their team. The team with the most points wins. (Include some “tell me the question” questions. i.e. you read out the answer and the students need to tell you what the question is.)
· Ask the first pair a question, record a point for the winner, they go to the end of the line and repeat for the next pair, etc.
· When the game finishes, remember to give the written questions back to the students
* Note, you need to print the both pages on separate pieces of paper if you want to get the students to pass you their written statements / questions.
