GVDAMLTV11: ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH PROJECT
Takkazi is an environmental project involved in recycling plastic waste to other important things. They crush a considerable amount of plastic each day. The project is located in Mkapuni, Kalolenisubcounty of Kilifi County.Takkazienvironmental project shreds injection and blow plastics to be later pushed along the value chain to create new plastic products. We focus on taking waste off the streets and making it into something new, protecting the environment while employing local communities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The volunteer will work closely with Takkazi's founder in various aspects of business including finance, marketing production, bookkeeping, fundraising, and budgeting. Under marketing the volunteer will be involved in B2B Marketing, communication and branding. The volunteer can also specify an overall approach that will focus on examining the business and working on various areas of improvement.
Takkazi Intern Role
Takkazi is a waste management company based in Mombasa operating in the
plastics recycling sector. As an intern for Takkazi, you will learn and engage in a
wide variety of business operations for a hands-on, immersive experience.

You have also taken some business classes and are ready to apply your classroom
knowledge to practical experiences.

A Takkazi intern works closely with Takkazi’s founder in various aspects of business
including but not limited to finance, marketing, and production. The intern should
specify an area of interest and the responsibilities assigned will be tailored to such
interest. For example, if you are interested in finance and accounting, you will likely
be working with related tasks such as bookkeeping, fundraising, and budgeting.
Likewise, someone interested in marketing could work with B2B marketing,
communication, and branding. You can also specify an overall approach that will

Requirements
As a Takkazi Intern, you should be able to:
• Communicate effectively
• Brainstorm ideas with the founder
• Be open-minded to new cultures and ways of life
• Apply your university training to the internship
Your Responsibilities
We are unfortunately not able to cover expenses such as travel, food, and
accommodation. Expenses that need to be covered are as follows (including cost
estimates):
• Transportation to Mombasa (plane, train, bus, etc. prices vary)

Your Responsibilities

Day 1: Arrival and pick upfrom the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, in Nairobi, Kenya and transfer to host family home or hostel.
Day 2: Morning: registration and start of orientation. About 4 hours lecture at the home of your host. Topics covered during orientation lecture will include East African culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary health precautions, and various other topics, such as the diversity of Kenyan life. Afternoon is free for exploring rural Kenyan life and getting to know your host family.
