The nearly identical green iguana is much more common worldwide. The ancient Egyptian myth of the shipwrecked sailor entails a story of contact with a large blue serpent (dragon) who talks and is friendly and helpful. In the story, the blue dragon tells the sailor that he is just one of many blue serpent-dragons that formerly inhabited the island, thus an endangered species. The story is based on a voyage to the land of Punt, during the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, which was from 2050 to 1650 BC. That places the writing of the Egyptian myth at around the time of Abraham and the generations of Genesis, 1850-1700 BC. Punt (also called Penye) is the ancient name for the kingdom located in the region of Ethiopia and southwestern Arabia, that later went by the names Sheba and Midian. The area was known for the presence of the powerful Egyptian city state of Thebes, along the upper Nile, adding another metaphor to the blue serpent theme. The story of Bel and the Dragon obviously is a direct reference to the Iguana-like dragon (idol) that the prophet Daniel vanquished thru feeding the large lizard a large ball of tar and hair. Thus the Kitab-i-Iqan, the Book of Certitude, is intended to overcome the dragons of the day, and all of Bahaullah's writings are gathered under this theme. The writings arranged in the format of the Quran, from large to small, even form a large body and a large tail for the follower of the Bab that claimed to be the Messianic prophet heralded by the Bab, a doctrine which the Bahais proclaim to this day. Rather, Baha-ullah appears to be a prophet caught up in a struggle between good and evil in the world, handing down prophetic writings while remaining a prisoner of the Ottoman Turks the entire time. In contrast, the Bab penned numerous large and cohesive books in a few years, while the tablets of Baha-ullah are written relatively sporadically over 40 years. (Baha-ullah is also known to have embraced or preached questionable doctrines outside of his prophetic writings, much like his son Abdul Baha., a perplexing situation indeed.) The writings of the Bab and Baha-ullah both appear to be mostly legitimate legal doctrine and prophetic teachings from Heaven. (A few improper alterations have been made, mainly in translation. Fortunately, just a few documents appear to be spurious.) And yet, the mood of dissatisfaction with the lack of reception for the Bab and his writings casts a slight shadow over the tablets of Baha-ullah. His letters were written to encourage the followers of the new-founded faith of the Bab, and all the world, in the wake of the end of the major prophetic dispensations that occurred from 1830-1850, that marked the 1844 anniversary of the prophecy of Mohammed, after 1,260 years. It might be noted that preaching to the notoriously corrupt Turkish Ottoman empire was a important and challenging task, and is probably why the writings are so eloquent and extensive, and emphatically urge fidelity to God. The arrangment of the Koran is of the largest books to the smallest books, with a few exceptions. See also the chronological order of the tablets of Bahaullah, for additional insights. The scriptural tablets of the Book of Certitude, the Surahs, (Chapters) are intermixed with all the other prophetic tablets, to form the book of the City of Certitude. The book's name of 'the City of Certitude' is probably a nod to the anceint Persian capital of Persepolis, and the ancient Greek capital city of Thebes, known to be exclusive to trusted enlightened persons. Certitude also translates to faith, fidelity, and confidence. Etc. Tablet of the Book of Certitude CHAPTER ONE Divisions 1-25 the Kitábi-Íqán Written in 1861 PART 1 of 2 1ST CERTITUDE 1. In the name of our Lord [God], the Exalted, the Most High. 2. No man shall attain the shores of the ocean of true understanding except he be detached from all that is in heaven and on earth. 3. Sanctify your souls, O ye peoples of the world, that haply ye may attain that station which God hath destined for you, and enter thus the tabernacle which, according to the dispensations of Providence, hath been raised in the firmament of the Bayán. 4. The essence of these words is this:
