Student 1

You are the Personnel Manager for I-Phone. You want to create good conditions for the employees and to build up better employee-manager relationships. One of key policies is the Open Door program. However, your partner, the Senior Manager, disagrees with your opinion.

Student 2

You are the Senior Manager at I-Phone. You disagree with the idea of introducing an Open Door policy suggested by your colleague. You think that it will have some disadvantages. For example, employees would take a day off in order to appeal to a higher level management to solve their problems

For instance, one of them thinks that job interruptions of women will eventually disappear and moreover, men will be granted paternal leave instead of women. His partner is very reserved concerning such predictions. He thinks that the situation on the labor market is unlikely to change.

A foreign employer is expressing his concern about an excessive number of cases when employees file different types of employee relations suits against companies. Among the most frequent types of lawsuits he mentions suits relating occupational health and safety hazards, unfair labor practices, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations. Our local employer has an opinion that employee relations suits are the products of bad management. He rejects the possibility of similar suits in our region giving his reasons.
