Would you like to live in the countryside? Why or why not?

1) Yes, I would like to live in the countryside, because living in the countryside has a lot of advantages. As the advantage we can consider the fact that the country is less polluted and the traffic isn't so heavy. In the countryside the air and water are so clean. There aren't any huge blocks of flats, modern skyscrapers or bothersome traffic jams. You can enjoy walking in the forest and picking mushrooms or hunting. But the greatest disadvantage of living in the country, in my opinion, is that it takes much time to get to the nearest town. On the other hand, if you have a car it will not be difficult for you.

2) No, I would like to live in the city. I got used to have all modern appliances in my flat, it’s more comfortable than living in the country. There are a lot of theatres, cinemas, museums, art galleries, libraries and big shopping centres. So, the cultural life in a big city is very diverse. In a big city a person has more possibilities to get good education and to find a well-paid job. It’s an easy place to make friends in. But there are also some disadvantages: long distances, traffic jams, air and noise pollution. Besides, life in a big city is very stressful and expensive.

What questions will you ask your friend who is a member of “the Greens”?

What have you already done to protect nature?

Does anybody help you in your work?

Do you have any positive results of your activity?

What advice will you give to the mayor of a large city on how to improve the ecological situation?

I think we have a lot of ecological problems in our town. For example, the worst thing is air pollution because we have many chemical enterprises around the town. Our water is also dirty. Fortunately, we have never had an earthquake or a fire.

I propose the idea of effective tree planting, days without cars and building special bicycle traces.

Nowadays many people think that ecological problems are more serious than economic. What do you think about it?

I think that ecological problems are more serious and more important than economic. People all over the world suffer from air, water and radioactive pollution. Pollution ruins people’s health. People who live in big cities are badly affected by harmful chemicals from factories and city transport. They also suffer from noise pollution, from lack of fresh air and clean water. So we need to improve ecological situation in the world.
